ChildSafely is a companion that aims to support our children, families, and teachers in taking ethical, conscious, and safer steps in the digital world.
It All Started with a Question
As artificial intelligence and digitalization permeate every cell of our lives, we pursued this critical question: "How can our children be safer in this rapidly growing digital world?" Our field observations across Turkey showed high technical usage skills, but digital ethics, privacy, and security awareness are still in their infancy.
ChildSafely took its first steps to fill this gap not merely with prohibitions, but with a vision of conscious and responsible use. Our story is an awareness movement born from the desire to support teachers, guide parents, and nurture children's curiosity in a safer way.
About
We've joined forces to take online safety education beyond the classroom. We're excited to introduce the ChildSafely program. ChildSafely was developed to support parents, teachers, and students in navigating the digital world safely, consciously, and ethically. The program offers tips, educational resources, and an interactive game that makes learning fun, all designed to strengthen online safety.
The ChildSafely program focuses on five core online safety principles:
- Share with Care: Digital Footprint and Responsible Communication
- Don't Fall for Scams: Phishing, Fraud, and Trusted Sources
- Stay Safe: Online Security and Passwords
- Being Kind is Cool: Combating Negative Online Behavior
- If in Doubt, Speak Out: Suspicious Content and Scenarios
The program provides tools and resources to support parents in continuing the conversation with their children at home through activities and guides, while also offering curriculum and lesson plans for teachers. Additionally, what is learned is put into practice with Interland, an adventurous online game that makes learning about digital safety and digital citizenship interactive and fun – just like the internet itself.
Children can celebrate completing the ChildSafely program with a certificate, and families can pledge to "Be Internet Awesome" to become safe and confident explorers of the online world.
